2024 Michigan Primary Results: Trump Trounces Haley Again | Uncommitted Voters Stun the Joe Biden Campaign
Both the Democratic and Republican Primaries were called instantaneously when polls closed earlier tonight at 9:00 PM Eastern. Trump and Biden were immediately projected as the winners of their respective races, but the margins in this race, especially in the Democratic party, can tell us a lot about the general election.
As of 10:39 PM, with 30% of the votes being reported, Donald Trump is leading Nikki Haley by 40 points, which is just about what the polls were projecting over the weekend. With one of Haley’s top donors dropping out just before this primary, we can conclusively say her campaign is all but over. My guess is we don’t hear from Haley until she gives her exit speech. It will be interesting to see if she endorses Donald Trump during that speech, seeing that she has signaled to her voters that she does not care about the Republican party whatsoever, just by staying in this race without any results. I had theorized that she was staying in just in case Trump was somehow removed from the ballot, but time has simply run out on her.
Although the Democratic Primary is a race with an actual incumbent president, without any real challengers, this was easily the story of the night. It had been reported that there were many Pro-Palestinian protestors organizing a “boycott” of Joe Biden, planning to vote “uncommitted” in the primary to show their dissatisfaction with the war in Gaza, but nobody could have expected the kind of turnout we got.
Biden won the crucial state of Michigan in the 2020 Presidential Election by about 150,000 votes. While it was not the closest state of the election, it was by no means a blowout, and losing this state in 2024 would be catastrophic for Joe Biden. Trump is already leading Joe Biden in Michigan according to all available polling, but the results in Michigan show a serious distrust in Joe Biden’s leadership from Democratic voters.
With just 31% of votes being reported, Over 40,000 Democratic voters have voted for “Uncommitted,” meaning we can project that around 120,000 voters have this way in Michigan tonight. That is a substantial number for Joe Biden, who again, can not afford to lose Michigan in the general election. As I talked about yesterday, you would never be able to imagine that the Palestinian issue could contribute to getting Donald Trump back in the White House, but that is looking like an absolute reality.
These voters, who absolutely despise Donald Trump, have sent a message to the Democratic Party that they care more about Palestine than Joe Biden, even if it means giving the White House back to Trump. And again, as I said yesterday, maybe they are thinking, understandably, that it cannot be worse. What could be worse than Joe Biden, who has been treated like a child by Putin, Zelenskyy, Netanyahu, and the rest of the world?
The American people have slowly been pushed out of their seat at the table of government. Our leaders make decisions that have nothing to do with what the American people want, but rather what the few in the elite, ruling class want. Do you want to know how to get back at them? Do you want to know how to get our seat back at the table? Just like this. Make them understand that the people have the power. That’s what this country fought a revolution for in 1776, and that’s the only way we can get it back. Well done to the people of Michigan.
