The War on Free Speech: The People Versus The System | How The Suppressing Of Viewpoints Has Created A Population That Is Content With Being Controlled By Bureaucrats
Now, I totally understand that Republicans are extremely frustrated with the overwhelming support of the Democratic Party by the media, big corporations, and education systems. However, these things come and go. That is the society we are living in right now, but those things fluctuate generation to generation. What does not fluctuate is the increasing power of the state, establishment, system, or whatever you want to call it. Slowly but surely, the state has taken more and more power away from the people and given it to themselves. The media, whose purpose by creation is to challenge the government, has become their leading spokesman. Again, this is not a war between Democrats and Republicans. It is the state vs the people.
Since 9/11, the increasing power of the federal agencies, who we do not vote into power, have been violating the privacy laws that every American citizen is born with in order to increase their own power. By increasing their own power, they have control over the actual policy our government carries out, which again, we never voted for. What kind of Democracy is that? Well, it isn’t. We get to vote in the elections, but we get absolutely no say in the actual policy that that administration carries out. We get offered two figure heads every four years to choose from, that much is certain, but we don’t get to vote on who runs the NSA, who has information on every American Citizen’s private life. Did anyone get a say in this? No, of course not. The democracy that we once knew and believed in only lives on in our minds now, because it has been killed by the state.
Now that the federal agencies have their police state, they must also control the narratives that are put out to force their agenda on the American public. That’s where the media comes in. It doesn’t matter if you watch Fox News or MSNBC, you are simply watching propaganda in different formats. CBS, ABC, and NBC, all pose as the moderate, mainstream networks, which make them the most dangerous at all. There is no diversity of thought represented in the media. They all push the exact same narrative that supports the American government and its agenda. Anyone who holds a viewpoint that does not fit into their mainstream narrative will be completely defamed and discredited.
The result of this is quite simple: The people become powerless. We have no press to defend us from the tyranny that they were created to fight, and the bureaucratic state is allowed to take control of our lives with no repercussions. So what happens to a people that has no power? Well, it’s quite simple: They become dumb. They become easily controlled. They believe everything the media tells them. Anyone with a different perspective becomes the obvious enemy, and they will participate in the defaming of that opposition. They will go along with censoring the speech of people who hold viewpoints that differ from the mainstream because they are told that they are very bad viewpoints. Do you see any resemblance of this in our society now? I think the answer is clear.
This takes us back to free speech itself. There are so many different ways all forms of speech have been targeted in the last few years, but the most impactful is clearly coming from the big corporations and the media. Google, Facebook, what was formerly Twitter, have all collaborated in removing people with opposite viewpoints from their platforms, suppressing stories that do not adequately represent their agenda, while also giving all of our information to the government, just in case, you know, we are terrorists. In any case, this suppression of media is absolutely unheard of in the United States, and I don’t think anyone ever thought it would get to a point like this.
The argument that the American citizen will still make up their own minds is absolutely ridiculous. If you are suppressing information to the point where only one perspective is easily available to you, while also being force fed the idea that that is the clear and obvious “right side,” no, some people will not be able to make up their own minds because it has been made for them. Don't forget, you can face drastic consequences in your own personal life if you hold those very bad viewpoints. Actually, it's quite beneficial to bow down and agree to everything they tell you. Again, the dumber the population, the easier to control. It’s the same argument that many monarchical governments used in the middle ages: “The people do not want to make decisions for themselves. They want to be ruled. They don’t want to think for themselves because they can't.” Well, that’s what the government thinks of us now, and they may be right! They have manufactured a population where a large majority simply do not care if they have power in their own lives or not as long as their football team wins on Sunday. A majority of the American public has proven they are happy to shut up and obey the system. That’s not democracy, just in case you were wondering. As Winston Churchill said, "The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter." That has never been more true than it is today.
America was founded on the First Amendment. Plain and simple. Free speech cannot be interpreted in any other way other than that the people should have the right to say whatever they want without having to worry about facing any backlash. The more we try to alter that definition, the more power we are giving to the system. In my opinion, absolutely everything other than legitimately threatening criminal activity should be protected by the first amendment. If you do not like someone’s point of view, great! You can combat it with better speech, not by censoring it. If somebody says something so ridiculous that you think it must be censored, you are wrong. What was said may be ridiculous, but the only way to combat it is through speech.
There is this idea that has become popular, again in recent years, that some speech is more dangerous than others. I have noticed that the most dangerous kind of speech is the kind that does not follow the narrative we are told to follow. The most dangerous kind of speech of all is when some American citizen says: “People are dying in the war. I think that is bad. Maybe we should stop?” What is classified as dangerous to someone may not mean anything to someone else. That person may be justified in saying that this sort of speech is dangerous, but the only way to combat that is by making a better argument. When we lose the ability to hear the other side, again, the dumber and dumber we become. The state thinks we are so dumb that we cannot even be trusted with a different perspective. They believe, and also want it themselves, that we are not smart enough to make our own judgments, so we must have our information controlled by them. You know, the smart ones. It has happened in almost every government in human history, and it is unfortunately happening on our own.
I believe that the principles that the United States were founded on are what make this the greatest nation in the history of the world. We fought hard to create a state led by the people, not the bureaucrats that rule us now. We must reach a point where everyone, every viewpoint, no matter how evil, is allowed to be heard. That is the only way to achieve truth, and that is the only way for a democracy to function. When you have a population that does not have to think for themselves solely because they have no impact on how the country is young, you have a population that is easily controlled.
That is not this country. That is not America.
